Actor Expo was first setup in 2008 by Remi O, a single handed woman, on a mission to change the face of the acting industry in the UK by launching the countries first ever trade show of its kind in the UK.
Remi’s event management & production career spans over 15yrs working on many events from corporate conferences, exhibitions, trade-shows to numerous large and well known outdoor festivals.
In the past she has worked for large organisations such as the BBC which helped round her skillset and contacts database phenomenally.
A confident manager & fun team leader, with like-able and knowledgeable event production skills, every event she delivers is done with fun and in a calm environment. Customer service is one of her strengths and ensures her team treats all clients with the highest level of respect and courtesy at all times.
The concept of actor expo was originally conceived back in early 2004, just as Remi left the BBC and branched out on her own projects. It took many years of research and trips to America to view other similar events in NYC and LA, to thrash out how best to deliver this show to the UK, where it had never been done before.
Early 2008 – the date was set for late October at the Royal Horticultural halls in Victoria – and the journey began…..
Remi was met with lots of hesitation from UK companies who were not familiar with the concept of exhibiting at a tradeshow, meeting their customers face to face and selling their products/services so freely and openly.
It was a hard struggle to convince people to book into the unknown show, but with a few confident supporters from companies such as Casting Call Pro and PCR the first of the big industry players to jump on board… the flood gates were opened!
On October 11th 2008 – more than 8000 actors embarked on the first ever Actor Expo… Blowing away all the exhibitors who were swamped with people & giving actors the first opportunity to meet with, shake hands with, talk to people who had previously been untouchable to them.
Actors were networking exchanging numbers and ideas, forming co-ops, picking up agents and simply being ‘wowed’ by the whole event. It was a magical event.
Every year Remi and her team aim to deliver the same ‘magical event’ every time they produce the show, whether its in London, Scotland, Wales or Manchester.
The show averages 3-5000 per event it is the largest of its kind in the country… With a Database of over 10,000+ actors and performers at our beck and call we know we have a concrete fan base.
Since Remi’s inspired event in 2008 many UK companies have tried to impersonate & copy the Actor Expo event, but as of yet have failed to deliver on the number of exhibitors and vistors that the Actor Expo Brand repeatedly delivers.
Remi’s 5th Actor Expo takes place on Sat November 5th 2011 at the Camden Centre.
