This 30 – 45 minute ‘Taster’ class is designed to introduce actors to specific skills and techniques required for television and film acting.
During the talk, you will learn the differences between personality and character acting and why
realism is imperative for television and film.
During this discussion we will touch on world renowned acting techniques including Stanislavski,
Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner and Stella Adler and why these theatre practitioners and theatre
techniques are not all appropriate when it comes to creating realism for television and film.
Skills and techniques taught in this class have been established by leading professionals of the
television and film industry.

Since 1986, TVI Actors Studio has provided actors with centres in NY and LA wherethey can focus on the business of their careers in addition to learning thenecessary skills to compete as an actor.
Founded in New York City in “The Actors Equity Building”, TVI Actors Studio opened its Los Angeles office studios in 1988. In both locations, the primary focus of the studio is to provide actors with a means of learning and understanding the practical “ins and outs” of the acting profession. Classes in audition technique are taught by some of the most prominent directors, producers, casting directors and talent agents on both coasts. Emmy-Nominated Todd Thaler’s credits as a NY Film and TV Casting Director date back to 1986.
He has worked on 14 of Woody Allen’s films starting with the “The Purple Rose of Cairo”, (along with countless others).
Besides working with Woody Allen, his credits include: Luc Besson’s “The Professional”, Todd Field’s “Little Children”, Sidney Lumet’s “Running on Empty”, Ed Harris’ directorial debut “Pollock”, Barbra Streisand’s “The Mirror Has Two Faces”, James Foley’s “Perfect Stranger”, Stacy Cochran’s “My New Gun”, Irwin Winkler’s “Night and the City”, John McNaughton’s “Mad Dog and Glory”, Gavin O’Connor’s “Tumbleweeds”, John Turturro’s “Mac”, “Illuminata”, and “Romance & Cigarettes”, James Mangold’s “Heavy and Copland”, and Wayne Wang’s “Because of Winn-Dixie”, “Maid in Manhattan”, and “A Thousand Years of Good Prayers.
Over the years, he has also cast many projects for television, including Peter Berg’s “Wonderland”, and the NBC comedy, “Ed”, for which he was nominated for the Emmy Award.
Join Todd Thaler, csa at Actors Expo on the 5th of November with TVI Actors Studio in a panel discussion, “Yea. you can make it America!”. Afterwards, Todd will be seeing actors attending the expo and reviewing their Headshots and CV’s at the TVI Actors Studio booth.
Attendees will also be invited to a special 3 hour “hands on workshop” the following day, Sunday, the 6th of November or on Monday, the 7th at the Actors Centre. You must attend the expo to receive the invitation. Attendees on the Sunday or Monday session will work with actual TV scripts and receive personal critique, and possible one-one-one meetings if time prevails.
